Getting started
Tracked items
What a tracked item is, and the kinds you can track.
A tracked item is one thing FactLatch checks for you: a source-backed fact, a value, a table, a section, a schedule, a list of people or a file.
Kinds of tracked item
- A fact tied to a source: a statement on your page, the source it depends on, and the evidence FactLatch confirmed there. Use this when you need to know that the source still backs the claim.
- A value: a price, a limit, a version or a date on a page, with the words that identify it.
- A table: its headers and rows. A changed cell, an added or a removed row is a change; re-sorting or restyling is not.
- A section: the meaningful text under a heading.
- A schedule or a list of people: its entries. An entry added, removed or changed is a change.
- A file: its readable text. If a file cannot be read, FactLatch can only tell that the file itself changed.
How you add one
From a scan: open a discovery, check what FactLatch read, then choose Track item. Or add a fact and its source yourself with + Track item, Add fact + source.
What FactLatch does when you confirm
It reads the item again from its source, makes sure it still finds the same one, records the baseline and takes one of your plan's tracked items. If it cannot find the item, nothing is tracked and you are told why.
