Data and security
What FactLatch fetches and how it handles data
What is read, from where, and what is kept.
The public scanner
- For a website it reads the public sitemap and home page of the address you type, and a limited set of those pages and files. For a page or document it reads that one address and the files it links to.
- It does not read anything behind a login and does not run your scripts.
- Nothing is saved to track until you create an account, verify an item and confirm it.
Monitoring
- FactLatch fetches the cited source pages themselves, over the public web, with limits on size and time. Fetched pages are treated as untrusted content.
- It keeps what it needs to show you what changed: the value or text it compares, the surrounding words and when it was read.
- What you track is visible only to your own workspace.
FactLatch never edits your website and never needs access to your content management system.
